Deep down I was underground
Buried inside my coat
At ease with the darkness,
Undisturbed;
Warmed by the sun,
Seduced by the gentle rain
I extended my arms
To grow up and beheld the world;
The beautiful world
With the songs and sighs of the wind,
The awes and wonders of everything therein;
The cruel world
With its tempest and storms
And man-made brutalities;
I thrived with the goodness and blessings
Of the world around me;
I was challenged by the storms and the cruel realities
That life had brought me;
They made me as I was, my laughter and smiles;
My tears, my flaws, my scars;
I became perfectly imperfect by the wind that struck me,
By the storms that broke me;
And by the seduction of the gentle rain
And the warm sunshine that brought me back to life
Every time I shrunk and wanted to give up;
I became....
And I was me when you came,
I never expected you to adore me or love me if you didn't;
I was standing tall with arms praising in gratitude;
Simply contented with what I got,
Dreaming of what I didn't have,
Musing myself with my own fantasies;
Dancing with the wind when it was good and gentle;
Fighting to thrive when it was strong against me;
Groaning in silence when it broke me;
Trying to outgrow everything after all;
Then you came...
And you came with your devices to destroy me;
I was gone forever.
What can a helpless and innocent tree do against you,
POWERFUL MAN?
